Google last updated the threshold to the seller rating program in August 2016.

The threshold is lowering to 100 verified reviews this October. The number of verified reviews is lowering due to Seller Ratings being aggregated on a country-to-country basis, a major update that will better reflect the experience of customers globally.

At REVIEWS.io we fully support this new update. This is great news and a welcome change for smaller businesses and businesses selling in one country.

Google's new requirements as of October 2018:

  • 100 verified reviews per country, within a 12 month period
  •
  • Rating above 3.5 stars

From October, businesses can collect 100 verified reviews to see their stars in their Google Ads. Searchers will only be able to read reviews specifically to their location, improving the review experience for businesses and consumers alike.
