Google Ups Minimum Threshold For Seller Ratings Stars

Google have increased the Seller Rating (‘Google Stars’) threshold from 30 to 150 reviews. Although this is a bigger jump than we were expecting, it’s not a totally unexpected move. In preparation, we have been advising our clients of the expected increase to the minimum 30 threshold for several months now.

New Seller rating Requirements:

  • 150 unique reviews — each review must have been collected within the past 12 months.
  • Overall rating must be at least 3.5 stars or higher.

What does this Google Seller Ratings change mean for online companies?

This will not be a welcome change by most smaller companies who do less than 2,000 transactions per year. The change is going to make ‘collection rate’ even more important. At REVIEWS, we are confident that we have the highest email collection rate in the industry at an average of over 10%.
